Hi Karl. We currently do not offer internet-based training at this time. We will be adding to our web-based documentation in short order, though. Also, we are available to do onsite training (and I do know that some of us would be quite keen on seeing Greenland). If you are interested in discussing options, please contact me at mike at opengeo dot org.

Thanks!

Just wanted you to know that we're using PostGIS and GeoServer to modernize the NGA Web-based Access Retrieval Portal (WARP). TONS of records and MEGATONS of imagery. - Our tens of thousands of users should be seeing the benefits soon. - Andy

Do you do internet based training - we are living in Nuuk, Greenland, and might be interested in the OpenLayers, GeoServer and PostGIS parts. We do not use the opengeo stack, but own builds + Grontmij-CarlBro Spatial Suite.

PostGIS 1.5.0 out and PLR working on Windows 8.3-8.4 installs...

PostGIS 1.5.0 is finally out
I'm happy to report that after a long haul, we have finally released PostGIS 1.5.0.
Two months late, but there it is, and its a really great release I think; Perhaps the best release ever.

Details on what makes this...

Here are the major changes (taken form the NEWS file http://svn.osgeo.org/geos/tags/3.2.0/NEWS)

- Add Single-sided buffer operation
- JTS-1.10 sync ...
  - Drastically improved Buffer speed (20x for a case in testsuite)
  - Improved EdgeList duplicate edge finding
  - Added algorithm::distance package
  - Added algorithm::Angle class
  - Added algorithm::BoundaryNodeRule class
  - IsSimpleOp can now return non-simple location coordinate
  - DistanceOp can now check for 'within distance' predicate
    (earlier exit)
  - MultiPolygon::getBoundary always return MultiLineString, also
    when the result is the EMPTY geometry.
- Various bug and leak fixes, optimizations
- Replace MarkupSTL with tinyXML

Mark, we share your goals! :) Collaborative knowledge building, and tool building is the best bet all around, and it seems like professionalizing and commercializing is the road the long term project stability. Keep on keeping on!

Paul,
I've been closely following your posts and links on the business model. The core developers on OSSIM have been primarily funded by US government programs that enhance functionality for various government prototypes. Recent successes have brought on new opportunities and challenges. For example, established integrators are seeing our business model as a threat to their traditional business and are actively trying to discredit the model. This has caused us to focus on a commercial open source model for one of the OSSIM based derivatives (OMAR). As I've always said, the goal is to make a living on what we love to do.
